Uta Larkey to
Participate in Leadership Program in German Language Education
Insert name
(Insert name) Uta Larkey ,
a teacher at (insert institution) Goucher College
in (city) Baltimore, MD ,
has been selected to participate in a leadership program in the field
of
German language education. The American
Association of Teachers of German (AATG) in cooperation with the
Goethe-Institut
established a program, TrainDaF (DaF stands for German as a Foreign Language),
which aims to build
future
leaders in the field of the teaching of German. This program, now in its fourth
year, is generously funded through
the
German government.
Participants will strengthen their leadership
skills, develop strategies for advocating German at all levels of
instruction,
and deepen their understanding of Germany and the European Union. Participants
will also learn more about
the
activities of the AATG and the broader field of world languages.
Funds from the German government support the
following activities: Program
participants will attend an
orientation
meeting in Washington D.C. from April 22-25, 2004. In summer 2004, they will
take part in seminars in
Germany. They will also attend the AATG Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, from November 18-21, 2004.
